  • 4 minced beef fillets (about 800 g)
  • 6 large potatoes
  • 2 carrots

  • 3 garlic cloves without skin
  • ½ cup of red wine (125 ml)
  • 4 tablespoons of fried tomatoes (homemade) (80 g)
  • 1 cup of Parmesan cheese (120 g)
  • 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil (15 ml)

Preparation

  1. You must start with the preparation of the mashed potatoes. Start by cooking the potatoes without removing the skin. In this way they do not absorb excess water and it is easier for you to detect when they are at their point.
  2. Place them in a pot of water and let them boil for 5-7 minutes. Prick them with a fork and when it comes out dry, they are ready. 
  3. Then, mash them and form the puree. Salt and pepper and reserve.
  4. For the meat preparation, add olive oil in a pan with olive oil and sauté the carrots together with the onions, garlic, salt and pepper for 3 minutes.
  5. Next, you will shred the veal and season it. Use salt and pepper and a large wooden spoon to cover the entire surface of the meat.
  6. Next, mix the meat with the vegetables in the pan and let the ingredients mix. Do it for 5 minutes over medium heat.
  7. When the meat and vegetables are acquiring color, pour in the red wine and stir. Let it cook until the wine reduces.
  8. Lower the flame to the lowest possible level and cook for another 10 minutes.
  9. At the end of cooking, transfer the contents of the meat to a baking sheet and distribute the meat evenly over the surface.
  10. Add the homemade fried tomatoes as a layer on top of the meat, and then layer another layer of mashed potatoes. Repeat until finished.
  11. Preheat the oven to 200ºC.
  12. Before finally taking it to the oven, sprinkle the Parmesan cheese on top of the cake.
  13. Cook for 10 minutes and then activate the grill mode of the oven so that the cheese is gratinated.
